May I suggest the paella at L’Albufera, it was sold to me as “the best paella in Mexico City”, and it did not disappoint. L’Albufera is one of the Mexico City restaurants you must visit when in this ancient city.

I took the hotel concierge’s advice and spent one of my afternoons at the Museo Franz Mayer. The building itself is a piece of history dating back to the 16th century. It has been beautifully restored, and now houses exquisite colonial-era art and rare items accumulated by Mayer himself and donated to the people of México. This museum features mostly functional pieces, such as furniture, watches, trunks, utensils and altarpieces. This amazing personal collection is on par with the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Fl, which is one of my favorite museums in the entire United States.

Back at the hotel I decided to indulge in some time at the spa. Gran Melia Mexico Reforma was the first spa in Mexico to receive official Mexican Spa Certification.
